WHEREAS, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) are essential to
Idaho’s healthcare system, providing high-quality, cost-effective anesthesia
care; and
WHEREAS, CRNAs are anesthesia specialists who administer approximately 85
percent of the anesthetics given to patients each year in the State of Idaho;
and
WHEREAS, CRNAs are the sole anesthesia providers at the U.S. Department of
Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Boise, Idaho, and in more than two-thirds of
all rural Idaho hospitals, affording these medical facilities obstetrical,
surgical, and trauma stabilization capabilities; and
WHEREAS, Idaho CRNAs practice in every setting in which anesthesia is delivered:
Traditional hospital surgical suites and obstetrical delivery rooms; the offices
of dentists, podiatrists, ophthalmologists, and plastic surgeons; ambulatory
surgical centers; and U.S. Military and Public Health Services;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, C.L. “Butch” Otter, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby
proclaim that January 20-26, 2008 be IDAHO NURSE
