WHEREAS, the United States Army was established by the First Continental Congress on the 14th day of June, 1775; and WHEREAS, the United States Army exists to defend the freedom of our citizens and our nation’s security interests; and WHEREAS, many citizens of Idaho have served their nation and given the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our freedoms, as members of the United States Army; and WHEREAS, it is proper to recognize the United States Army annually on its birthday, and to thank those who have served and those who are presently servings; NOW, THEREFORE, I, C.L. “BUTCH OTTER”, Governor of Idaho, do hereby proclaim June 14th, 2008, as the United States Army’s 233rd birthday and declare the period from June 9th through June 15th, 2008 UNITED STATES ARMY WEEK in Idaho, and I exhort all citizens to join with me in expressing gratitude to those who have served and those who now are serving to protect our nation and its freedoms.
