        WHEREAS, learning about the heritage of hunting, fishing and conservation enhance the education of children and develops the ethics of good sportsmanship; and

        WHEREAS, all children of the State of Idaho deserve the opportunity to learn the legacies of hunting, fishing and wildlife conservation; and

        WHEREAS, the children of all military families whose parents are serving on active duty to defend the constitutions of the United States and of the State of Idaho deserve the opportunity to learn these outdoor skills that will enhance their lives; and

        WHEREAS, the Snake River Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, the Treasure Valley Chapter of Safari Club International, the Idaho National Guard, the Idaho Department of Fish and Game and Howard’s Tackle Shop of Nampa donated volunteers and resources to create a Kids Conservation and Military Appreciation Day; and

        WHEREAS, this day is to teach Idaho children about the safety and skills involved in firearms shooting, archery, fishing and sound wildlife conservation practices for the preservation of Idaho’s fish and wildlife resources;

NOW, THEREFORE, I C.L. “BUTCH” OTTER, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim June 14th, 2008,

KIDS CONSERVATION AND MILITARY KIDS DAY

in Idaho.
