WHEREAS, the American Academy of Audiology is the world's largest professional organization of, by, and for audiologists, whose membership of more than 10,000 audiologists join together to provide the highest quality of hearing healthcare service to children and adults described by their national slogan “Caring for America’s Hearing”; and WHEREAS, the American Academy of Audiology promotes quality hearing and balance care by advancing the profession of audiology through leadership, advocacy, education, public awareness and support of research; and WHEREAS, the American Academy of Audiology was founded in January 1988 when a group of audiology leaders met for the purpose of establishing an independent, freestanding national organization run by and for audiologists; and WHEREAS, audiologists are dedicated healthcare professionals who diagnose, treat and manage individuals with hearing loss or balance problems; and WHEREAS, audiologists’ academic and clinical training provide the foundation for patient management from birth through adulthood; and WHEREAS, audiologists may be found working in medical centers and hospitals, private practice settings, schools, government health facilities and agencies, as well as colleges and universities throughout Idaho; and WHEREAS, audiologists perform their duties with compassion, professionalism and a commitment to those they serve; and WHEREAS, the observance of the 20th Anniversary of the American Academy of Audiology provides a special time to express our appreciation and gratitude to audiologists for their hard work and dedication to our continued well-being and quality of life; NOW, THEREFORE, I, C. L. “BUTCH” OTTER, Governor of the Great State of Idaho, do hereby recognize the 20th Anniversary of the American Academy of Audiology and urge all citizens to recognize the immense and lasting impact that audiologists have had and will continue to have on Idaho communities
