WHEREAS, our nation’s heritage is based on citizen involvement and citizen participation and is essential to its spirit; and WHEREAS, volunteerism is of enormous benefit in building a better community and a better sense of one’s own well being; and WHEREAS, Idaho’s “Brightest Stars” are ordinary people doing extraordinary things to ensure the vitality of Idaho communities; and WHEREAS, Idaho’s “Brightest Stars” remind us all that the investments we make in the lives of Idaho citizens will reap a lifetime of rewards for our families, communities, and the State; and WHEREAS, the message of volunteerism and service to others that these communities, corporations, small businesses, organizations, schools, youth and individuals embody should be emulated and replicated in every corner of our state; and WHEREAS, the leadership and character of the Governor’s Brightest Stars is recognized and applauded by all Idaho citizens; and WHEREAS, the selfless actions, resources and expertise of Idaho’s “Brightest Stars” truly make a positive difference in the lives of its citizens; Now, THEREFORE, I C.L. “BUTCH” OTTER, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim March 27, 2008 to be BRIGHTEST STARS DAY in Idaho, and encourage the citizens of the State to affirm and support the
ongoing commitment of these Brightest Stars to continue to serve in their
communities.
