WHEREAS, the Treasure Valley members of the Professional Firefighters of Idaho serve and protect the communities of Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Nampa, Caldwell and Kuna every day; and WHEREAS, the members of the Professional Firefighters of Idaho have become a symbol of pride, honor and strength; and WHEREAS, the members of the Professional Firefighters of Idaho unselfishly donate their time and energy to supporting the battle against muscular dystrophy; and WHEREAS, firefighters across the nation are some of the largest contributors in the United States to the Muscular Dystrophy Association; and WHEREAS, proceeds provide comprehensive medical services to tens of thousands of adults and children with neuromuscular diseases and contribute to research for treatments and cures; and WHEREAS, firefighters in Idaho rank 1st in the nation for funds raised per member, raising more than $255,000 in 2007 to help more than 450 southern Idaho families affected by neuromuscular disease; NOW, THEREFORE, I, C. L. “BUTCH” OTTER, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim May 30 and 31, 2008, to be TREASURE VALLEY FIREFIGHTERS FILL THE BOOT DAYS in Idaho and encourage all Treasure Valley citizens to recognize and support
the valiant firefighters who serve them.
