WHEREAS, the Northwest’s newest family friendly attraction, combining literacy and public art, debuts September 13th when residents of the Inland Northwest will celebrate the arrival of Mudgy & Millie to this northern Idaho community; and WHEREAS, Mudgy Moose and his playmate, Millie Mouse, are whimsical creations from best-selling author and Coeur d’Alene resident Susan Nipp; and WHEREAS, the hide-and-seek game depicted in the book will take form in the real world as a public art project---The Mudgy Moose Trail; and WHEREAS, the Mudgy Moose Trail is being developed by the City of Coeur d’Alene Parks & Recreation Department with the blessing of the Coeur d’Alene City Council and Mayor Sandi Bloem; and WHEREAS, Mudgy Moose and Millie Mouse not only encourage Idaho’s youth to expand their educational horizons through reading, they also encourage them to experience the outdoors through the Mudgy Moose Trail; NOW, THEREFORE, I, C.L. “BUTCH” OTTER, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim September 13, 2008, to be MUDGY AND MILLIE DAY in Idaho
