        WHEREAS, Idaho relies on public education to ensure a prosperous quality of life and the competiveness of our state’s economy; and

        WHEREAS, the State of Idaho is proud of its educational system and is appreciative of the efforts local school board members take to make the Idaho public school system an excellent place in which to educate its youth; and

        WHEREAS, Idaho’s elected school board members are dedicated public servants who commit themselves to many hours of time and effort on behalf of their school districts and communities to provide education for all of the children in the State; and

        WHEREAS, through partnership with the teachers, school administrators, staff and parents, school board members provide leadership and support for the young people that are this State’s future; and

        WHEREAS, the contributions of these men and women is critical to ensuring quality public education and should be recognized and appreciated by all who benefit from our public school system;

        NOW, THEREFORE, I, C.L. “BUTCH” OTTER, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim the month of January 2009, as

SCHOOL BOARD RECOGNITION MONTH

in Idaho and encourage all citizens to recognize and acknowledge the many important contributions school board members make to our children and communities.
