The Governor and First Lady accept a donation of $500,000 made to
the state by the Coeur d’Alene Tribe. The Tribe donated the money
to be used for the The Idaho Meth Project aimed at drug prevention.

The Governor accepts a framed certificate from the U.S. Department
of Agriculture indicating that Idaho once again enjoys a
“Brucellosis Free” status. In July of 2007 the USDA found that state
livestock were no longer threatened by the disease. Dr. Cindy
Gaborik of the USDA presented the certificate to the Governor.

Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter inspects seed hoppers being made by Idaho Correctional Industries. The canvas and metal hoppers will be
worn by hundreds of volunteers who are expected to gather wild grass and sage brush seed in November. The volunteer program is part
of state and federal efforts to restore 670,000 acres of rangeland and wildlife habitat destroyed during the Murphy Complex fire this summer.

September 28, 2007 

Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter cuts the ribbon opening the new Health
Care Education building on the campus of the Eastern Idaho
Technical College (EITC). The facility will be used by students at
EITC and Idaho State University.
 

The Governor watches nursing students in the new facility that will
train nurses and other health care professionals. Governor Otter
revealed his recommendations from his Health Care Summit during
his trip to Idaho Falls. The recommendations call for training an
additional 5,000 new nurses in Idaho by the year 2020.
