Governor Otter speaks with interns.

Governor Otter discusses State government issues with two of his interns. Internships in the Governor´s Office present opportunities for Idaho students to learn about the administration of State government. Interns also provide the Governor´s Office help in serving Idahoans.

Intern Program

The Governor´s Office provides unpaid internship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate college students who are interested in experiencing the day-to-day operations of the chief executive´s office. The Governor´s Office is responsible for overseeing the administration of State departments, agencies, and boards and commissions, as well as promoting responsible government, encouraging economic opportunity and empowering Idahoans.

The goal of the internship is to provide students the opportunity to become familiar with all aspects of the operation of the Governor´s Office. More specifically, interns will assist administratively, aid in media relations and, where appropriate, help respond to correspondence from constituents. Interns will be given as much substantive work as possible and will interact directly with staff and assist in State government operations.

There are three intern positions available during each of the fall, spring and summer sessions. Applicants should be organized, self-motivated and energetic individuals. Students with strong writing and research skills are encouraged to apply. Interns are expected to be professional and respectful while working in the Governor´s Office.

If you have any questions, please contact the internship coordinator at (208) 334-2100.
