STEVE BROWN NAMED TO FILL BANNOCK COUNTY COMMISSION VACANCY

(BOISE) – Governor C.L. “Butch”Otter announced the appointment today of Steve Brown of Pocatello to fill the Bannock County Commission vacancy left by Commissioner Evan Frasure’s resignation to become Idaho director of the federal Farm Service Agency.

“I am honored by the trust Governor Otter has placed in me through this appointment and understand the responsibilities that I now have to serve all of the citizens of Bannock County,” Brown said.

The insurance agent, political consultant and Pocatello City Council president is the son of L. Ed Brown, who served in the Idaho House of Representatives for three terms, 1985-1990. The younger Brown was among three nominees submitted to the Governor to serve out the balance of Frasure’s term, through 2020. The Bannock County Republican Central Committee’s other nominees were Jason Dixon and Scott Porter.

“Steve has the background, the experience and the drive to be an outstanding county commissioner,” Governor Otter said. “His commitment to the community and its citizens is unquestioned, and his understanding of the issues that matter most to the people he serves is second to none. I’m confident Steve will help his fellow commissioners ensure that Bannock County government is run efficiently, fairly and transparently.”

Before going into the insurance business, Brown was regional director for Congressman Mike Simpson and previously served in the same role for Senator Larry Craig. He now serves on the Bannock Development Corp. board of directors and the Pocatello Development Authority’s board of commissioners. Brown said he will step down from the Pocatello City Council.
