GOVERNOR APPOINTS HAILEY ATTORNEY TO FIFTH DISTRICT JUDGESHIP

(BOISE) – Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter announced the appointment today of Hailey attorney Ned Williamson to succeed recently retired Fifth District Judge Robert Elgee.

Williamson was among four nominees submitted to Governor Otter by the Idaho Judicial Council to fill the Fifth Judicial District vacancy based in Blaine County. The Montana native received a bachelor’s degree from Fort Lewis College in Colorado and earned his law degree at the University of Idaho. The former deputy prosecutor in Blaine and Canyon counties has run a private legal practice in Hailey since 2001.

“Ned’s long familiarity with the civic and legal issues that come before the court in Blaine County will be a real asset to him as a district judge,” the Governor said. “His extensive experience in the public and private sectors make him the right choice and a great addition to the Fifth Judicial District bench.”

Williamson and his wife Donna have one son.

“I want to thank Governor Otter for the honor and privilege of serving the citizens of the Fifth Judicial District. I also would like to thank the members of the Idaho Judicial Council for submitting my name to the Governor,” he said. “I will dedicate myself to being a fair and impartial judge for the people.”
