MOSCOW ATTORNEY TOM WHITNEY NAMED TO CANYON COUNTY JUDGESHIP

(BOISE) – Governor C.L. “Butch”Otter announced the appointment today of Moscow attorney Tom Whitney to the Caldwell-based Third Judicial District judgeship left vacant by the recent retirement of Judge Thomas Ryan.

Whitney, a Washington, D.C. native, has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland and is a graduate of University of Idaho’s College of Law. He taught math at Bonners Ferry High School before being accepted to law school. He and his wife Diane own and operate the Moscow law firm Whitney & Whitney, LLP.

“I am deeply honored that Governor Otter has placed his confidence in me to serve the citizens of the Third Judicial District and the State of Idaho,” Whitney said. “It is a privilege to join Idaho’s outstanding judges on the bench, and I look forward to working with them in the public interest.”

“Tom’s passion for justice, high regard for the legal system and extensive experience in Idaho courts make him an outstanding choice for district judge,” Governor Otter said. “He also has the strong work ethic and management skills that will be a great asset in handling a heavy caseload in southwestern Idaho."
