GALEN COLTER NAMED TO SUCCEED DAVIS ON CAMAS COUNTY COMMISSION

(BOISE) – Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter announced the appointment today of school teacher Galen Earl Colter to fill a vacancy created on the Camas County Commission by the recent death of Commissioner Bill Davis.

Colter, a 40 year resident of Fairfield, has served in various capacities on several boards and commissions including as Chair of the Soil Conservation Board of Camas County, and as both President and Vice President of the Idaho Agricultural Teachers Association.

“I look forward to serving with my fellow commissioners and serving this wonderful County of Camas,” said Colter. “I will try to meet the needs of all the residents of Camas County to the best of my ability.”

Colter will serve out the remainder of Davis’ term which will end in January of 2019.

Davis was appointed to the commission last fall and won the May 2018 GOP primary. He passed away earlier this month due to complications following heart surgery.

Colter’s name was submitted to the Governor along with two other candidates by the Camas County Republican Central Committee. The other two individuals considered were Winston Ellis, a member of the local airport committee, and Tyler Ballard, a Fairfield city council member.
