SALMON TO HOST “CAPITAL FOR A DAY"

(BOISE) – Governor C.L. “Butch”Otter announced today that Salmon, the seat of government for Lemhi County, will host his administration’s 105th Capital for a Day on Monday, September 17th.

Governor Otter brings State government to Idahoans living outside Boise each month by making a different town in Idaho the state’s “Capital for a Day.” The meetings provide local residents an opportunity to have open discussions about government issues and public policy with Governor Otter, members of his Cabinet and other senior State officials.

The open opportunity to meet with the Governor, members of his Cabinet and other senior State officials on September 17th is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Sacajawea Interpretative, Cultural and Educational Center at 2700 Main Street in Salmon.

State officials joining Governor Otter include Lieutenant Governor Brad Little, State Board of Education Executive Director Matt Freeman, Governor’s Office of Energy and Mineral Resources Administrator John Chatburn, Department of Environmental Quality Director John Tippets, Department of Water Resources Director Gary Spackman, Idaho State Department of Agriculture Deputy Director Brian Oakey, and Department of Fish and Game Deputy Director Sharon Kiefer. The departments of Commerce, Lands, Parks and Recreation, Transportation and Water Resources, as well as the Division of Veterans Services and Idaho State Police, also will have senior representatives on hand to take questions.

“This is my second ‘Capital for a Day’ held in Salmon,” said Governor Otter. “I expect to hear issues ranging from wolves and logging to tourism and economic development. I am looking forward to a lively discussion as we get down to the important business of solving problems."
