Boise, Idaho – Governor Brad Little today thanked Bill Gilbert and Cindy Siddoway for their years of service on the Idaho State Board of Education after both their terms expired.

“Bill Gilbert and Cindy Siddoway have dedicated years of their lives to serving Idaho’s students and strengthening the institutions that prepare our young people for success. Their leadership on the State Board of Education has helped Idaho continue making progress in education while keeping our focus on what matters most – giving students the skills and opportunities they need to succeed and ensuring Idaho has the educated, skilled workforce our economy demands,” Governor Little said.

Gilbert, who has served on the State Board of Education since 2019, brought extensive experience in business and economic development to the board. During his tenure, he helped guide decisions affecting Idaho’s public schools, colleges, universities, and workforce development efforts.

Siddoway, who has served on the State Board of Education since 2021, brought a strong background in agriculture, business, and community leadership. Her service has helped advance the state’s efforts to strengthen education and connect Idaho students with opportunities in the state’s growing economy.

“Bill and Cindy understand that education and economic opportunity are inseparable. They have been strong advocates for Idaho students and thoughtful stewards of our public education system. I am grateful for their commitment, their perspective, and the time they have given to the people of Idaho,” Governor Little added.

The Idaho State Board of Education oversees the state’s public education system, including K-12 education and Idaho’s public colleges and universities.

Governor Little will announce appointments to the State Board of Education at a later date.

Mitch Watkins appointed chairman of Idaho Transportation Board

Governor Little also announced his appointment of Mitch Watkins as chairman of the Idaho Transportation Board.

Watkins brings extensive experience in Idaho business, transportation, and community leadership to the role.

As chairman, he will help guide the Idaho Transportation Department as it continues investing in the state’s transportation infrastructure, supporting economic growth, and keeping Idaho’s roads and highways safe and efficient for Idaho families, businesses, and communities.

“I appreciate Mitch’s willingness to step up and serve Idaho in this important role. Idaho’s continued growth brings both opportunities and challenges for our transportation system, and Mitch understands the importance of making smart, strategic investments that keep people moving and support Idaho’s economy. I look forward to working with him as chairman,” Governor Little said.
